The new VG-857 is a programmable video signal generator, which supports super high gradation DVI and LVDS output with 10-bit accuracy. Deeper gradation has been realized to satisfy requirements for flat panel displays such as PDPs, where the need for ultra high-density gradation is growing.

The VG-857 supports ultra high resolution of up to 300MHz clock frequency, various test functions, patterns like 24bit true color BMP/JPEG imagery, various types of linear ramp patterns for gamma testing, scroll animation pattern with 1 dot/1H high accuracy (for testing response), etc. In spite of all these great features, the VG-857 is very inexpensive, which in turn makes it very suitable for manufacturing applications.

Features

Maximum 10 bit color gradation

  • With DVI dual interface and LVDS dual interface (through DVI to LVDS converter IA-573) each 1 channel, a maximum 10 bit level digital signal is generated. Its color level is selectable, with 0 to 10 bits of flexibly, and easy to test it with various kinds of linear ramp patterns, natural picture images, etc.

Wide range of dot clock

  • Maximum 300MHz for 8bits mode (with DVI), maximum 165MHz for 10bits mode.

Control interface uses Ethernet

  • The control interface accepts Ethernet and RS-232C. By using Ethernet, it is possible to control several units on a production line.

Editing of standard Flash Card with PC

  • An ATA - standard compact flash card is used as a memory device. Users can edit and save program data or bit map data in a PC without the video generator. The data is compatible with VG-835

Supports scroll and simple animation function

  • Horizontal and vertical “1-dot pattern scrolling” is possible. This can be used as simple animation depending on resolution.
